How to Add Affiliate Disclosure to WP using Genesis Simple Hooks

As a new user to WordPress, I did a lot of research before buying a WordPress theme for my blog and I selected Genesis. Bloggers choosing Genesis themes overwhelmingly because it provides a robust framework for your blog’s security and SEO friendly layouts. There are many other reasons due to them I opted Genesis, you can read why did I choose Genesis theme for my blog. One reason behind that is Genesis provides a variety of plugins to make customization easy for you e.g. Genesis Simple Hooks, this plugin allows you to add scripts, short codes, or php to various positions such under header, post area, and footer area etc, without looking into theme code area. This post will guide you on how to add affiliate disclosure to WP using Genesis Simple Hooks plugin.

Nowadays, in many countries bloggers have to disclose their affiliate policy and it’s better for you to comply with the rules and regulations of such countries. Simply in affiliate disclosure, you tell your readers that you will get commission if they buy a product using your affiliate links. Many bloggers hesitate to show such information because they think that it might affect their earnings.  But they don’t know that majority of readers don’t mind if you’re getting compensation.

For your kind information, if you own a Genesis theme then you can use it on your all WordPress blogs because by license it permits you to use one theme on unlimited blogs even on clients’ websites.

Let’s add an affiliate disclosure link to your posts that appears automatically on every post.

How to add affiliate disclosure to WordPress posts using Genesis Simple Hooks –

First of all, you’ll need to install Genesis Simple Hooks plugin so for that purpose, from WordPress dashboard, click on Plugins then click on Add New link.

Type Genesis Simple Hooks in search box and then install and activate the plugin.

After installing and activating the plugin, from the sidebar, move your mouse on Genesis and click on Genesis Simple Hooks.

Case 1: To add message under post title –

Scroll down and find genesis_before_entry_content and then add following short code in the box :

Note: Write a brief disclosure in a new page and then publish it. Replace yourdisclosurelink.com with your disclosure page URL.

Click on the checkbox next to “Execute PHP on this hook” and hit save changes button.

Case 2: To add message at post footer area –

To add the message at post footer area look for genesis_entry_content and paste short code in case 1 into the box. Don’t forget to click on checkbox next to “Execute PHP on this hook” before hitting save changes button.

Note: If you’re not getting desired results then simply paste short code to genesis_entry_header section.

That’s it. You can see preview of your blog to see whether it’s working or not.
