How to Change WordPress Login Password

Last Updated: 21/10/2017 · By: Sunil Dogra

We’d change our WordPress login password periodically because our blogs are vulnerable to many cyber attacks. Many, actually almost all, companies suggest that we’d change our login password once in three months to safeguard our admin areas from cyber attacks. In this short but valuable tutorial, I’m going to show you how to change WordPress Login password. It’s a very easy process. You just need to access your WordPress admin area to change your WP password. Here I would like to mention that if you’ve forgotten your WordPress password then kindly read this tutorial how to reset WordPress login password. Otherwise, if you already know your WordPress password and you just want to change it because of above mentioned reason then continue to read.

WordPress auto password generator generates a strong password for you (you’ll be able to see that when you’ll start following these instructions), however, I strongly recommend you to enter your own password because I’ve heard some incidents where WordPress admins accounts got hacked just because they’re using WP password generator.

First of all get access to your WordPress admin area by using your login credentials. Once you get logged in, from the right side panel, click on “Users” and then select “All Users”.

From the Users tab, move your mouse on a user and then click on “Edit”.

Now scroll down and click on “Generate Password”.

In the next step, WordPress auto password generator will generate a password for you. You can either choose that password as your login password or you can enter your own password. If you would like to enter your own WordPress login password then simply delete auto generate password and enter your own.

After entering a strong password for your WordPress blog, scroll down to bottom and hit Update profile button to save your changes.

That’s it. You’ve successfully changed your WordPress login password.
